Building at the speed of thought

Building at the speed of thought

I built Lucid (this blog) with Astro and migrated by personal blog from WordPress over a weekend. And in the process, I also managed to build a design system (Ken Design System) and an open source commenting system, Discuss, with all the bells and whistles, in just a matter of days, thanks to AI-accelerated development.

This morning, I just wanted to publish this thought here. But when I opened my IDE to do that, the MDX file in its raw form with all the frontmatter and the ambient code noise wasn’t that inviting to write in. I spent a few minutes looking for a headless CMS, but eventually ended up building my own. I just threw some ideas, TipTap patterns, component requirements, and desired git flows into Gemini, and in about 8 hours, I had a working Git-based CMS for Lucid.

I guess this is going to be the new normal. We’re in an era where we can effortlessly build products almost at the speed of thought now. Can’t find a product that fits your taste? Just go build one! Nothing’s stopping you (except token limits). And with all the local LLMs becoming more efficient, it’s only going to get better for solo builders in the future.
